ALL-STAR FATIGUE DOVER DEBATE

While Denny Hamlin left Dover $1 million richer, his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate slammed NASCAR’s All-Star Race: “It felt like Coke 600”

For Chase Briscoe, the problem wasn’t the $1 million prize or the stakes. It was the race itself that felt unusually long and drawn out. The All-Star Race has traditionally been NASCAR’s sprint-style event, showcasing aggressive, chaotic racing and shorter than a normal Cup race. Instead, Dover’s version felt more like a marathon, Denny Hamlin’s teammate, Briscoe, compared to crown-jewel races like the Coca-Cola 600 or the Southern 500.

NASCAR leaned into Dover’s historic “Monster Mile” identity, but not every driver felt the format matched the energy fans expect from an exhibition event built around excitement and urgency.

Dover’s first All-Star Race was pure chaos, but Denny Hamlin delivered yet again as he took home $1 million on Sunday

Dover’s first NASCAR All-Star Race reminded fans why the Monster Mile still has a reputation for breaking even the best drivers. But somehow, Denny Hamlin keeps mastering it.

At 45, Hamlin also became the second-oldest All-Star Race winner ever, behind only Mark Martin. Nights like this are why fans can never fully count Hamlin out, especially at Dover.
